It seems as if there is a new hardware released everyday. You buy the latest hardware today, and go bragging about it outside, you're sure to find a couple of people staring at you and saying, "Hey thats old, i got a much better version than yours!". It seems that there is no right time to upgrade, as whatever upgrade you make is going to get old in a matter of months.
For me, i am going to upgrade when Vista becomes a bit more widely used. Many hardware enhancements especially to support its features would come forward, and at that time i will have to do a wise selection of hardware that would last atleast for 2 years.
The best option for gaming now, according to me are consoles. Choose whatever you want, PS3, X-BOX360 or Wii, its your choice. But atleast, the next time you buy a game for your console, you're absolutely sure it'll work the way it is intended to.
